4th Quarterly Newsletter 2014

President's Report

More than 200,000 industrial robots will have been sold in 2014. This is again a new record.  Opportunities for continued growth are huge. The breakthrough of human robot collaboration just started. It will capture other industrial sectors that, to date, have remained undeveloped. The topic is hot! Robot experts  and robot users will discuss on "Robots and People Working Together" at the next IFR CEO Round Table on 23rd March 2015 in Chicago.

3rd Quarterly Newsletter 2014

President's Report

World Robotics has just published the latest forecast figures on robot shipments in 2014, and 2015 to 2017, and I must admit I am proud to present such a strong industry. The worldwide demand on industrial robots is just overwhelming. An increase of 15% on shipments and a further forecast of an average annual growth of 12% between 2015 and 2017 signify that to satisfy such high demand our industry will probably have overcome certain challenges.

2nd Quarterly Newsletter 2014

President's Report

Human-machine-collaboration, more ease of use and assembly will provide a huge potential for robot installations in the coming years.  This became apparent in the discussion of the robot users Dr. Chia Day, Foxconn, and Dr. Stefan-Markus Baginski, BMW, among five CEO robot suppliers at the AUTOMATICA in Munich on 4 June 2014.

Excellent news for the Robotics Industry: Year 2013 has seen another all-time record in robot sales, reaching 168,000 units. The main driver of the new record is the impressive demand in the Asian market, which confirms the growth achieved during recent years as well as the expected projections.

3rd Quarterly Newsletter 2013

President´s Report

The annual study World Robotics has just been published and forecasts are promising. The Robotics industry is looking into a bright future. Challenges facing our industry are not easy but they are feasible. One of the most important challenges I think is the human robot cooperation, i.e. robot assistant.  The implementation of this technique including advanced safety measures, easier, flexible and even more interactive programming and integration will open up plenty of new application fields.

2nd Quarterly Newsletter 2013

President´s Report

2012 was quite satisfying for the global robot industry and robot sales reached the second highest level ever. The demand for industrial robots is increasing due to the accelerating trend towards automation all over the world. We estimate that in 2013, robot sales will reach a similar result as in 2012.

Robots improve manufacturing success and create jobs! This was the result of the update of the IFR research study titled "Positive Impact of Industrial Robots on employment". Two robot users from the United States, Drew Greenblatt, Marlin Steel and Matt Tyler, Vickers Engineering confirmed this during the IFR CEO Round Table discussion at the Automate show in Chicago.

4th Quarterly Newsletter 2012

President´s Report

In 2012, we witnessed another successful year for the robotics industry! Of course, the increase of demand for robots has lost its momentum due to the weakening economic situation in many countries especially in the Euro zone, in Japan and in North America. However, the interest in robotics and the acceptance level of robots have continuously increased. Despite the unsure global economic forecast we are looking forward with confidence to 2013.
