The Painting Robot Success Story

14 February 2011

Dürr sold the 5000th painting robot in an order to Volkswagen Taubate.  In future, the robot will be painting in the factory in Brazil together with 84 other new Dürr robots in two new top coat lines.

The success story of the Dürr painting robot was introduced in the mid-nineties with the decision by Dürr to launch their own robot, matched in particular with the interests of the paint application technology. Already in 1998/1999, the first robots convinced customers in Germany and Spain with painting quality, flexibility and productivity. Color changes lasting only seconds, high process safety and the increase in the first run rate in the painting lines became their trademarks.

The robots are also used for painting in the aerospace industry, in wind power plants and in railroad technology. More than 1000 of the painting robots are installed in Germany, more than 800 in China and more than 1100 in the worldwide locations of the leading German manufacturer.

With their robot product portfolio, Dürr covers all market demands. This includes floor-based and elevated robots, robots on traveling rails, handling robots for opening doors and hoods, during interior painting and so-called swing arm robots for the interior painting of load spaces of vans.
