Finalists nominated for Invention and Entrepeneurship in Robotics and Automation Award (IERA)

Presentations at International Conference on Robotics and Automation

Four Finalists have been nominated by the IERA Award Committee to present their story of the genesis of a successful innovative product in robotics and automation at a special Industry Forum at ICRA 2011. The Industry Forum is part of the ICRA 2011 programme and will be held on 9 May 2011 in Shanghai.

Robotics Supply Chain: What impact has the Japanese tragedy?

The strong demand is continuing

In 2011 a further increase of robot sales between 10% and 15% is expected. The predicted forecast has been set up by the IFR prior to the recent tsunami in Japan and its substantial effects on the Japanese economy. During the IFR Industrial Robot Suppliers Meeting on 24 March in Chicago a threat analysis was performed with the knowledge of the participating robot suppliers from all over the world.

Dr. Shinsuke Sakakibara as new IFR President elected

Lindqvist's time of office ended

The IFR Executive Board elected Dr. Shinsuke Sakakibara, Managing Counselor, FANUC CORPORATION, Japan, as the new IFR President. Dr. Sakakibara announced that he will continue to strengthen the IFR as the most important organization for the world robotics community.

Strong comeback of the global robotics industry

In 2011 robots sales will increase to a new peak level

The IFR Statistical Department presented the preliminary results of the annual detailed statistics for Industrial Robots on Tuesday in Chicago at the AUTOMATE. In 2010, with more than 115,000 industrial robots shipped, the number of units sold worldwide almost doubled - with 2009 being lowest year since the early 90's.
